Shirley Wang Ling was an established performer and master teacher
with degrees from the Peabody Conservatory and the Philadelphia
Musical Academy. Because of her outstanding talent, she was awarded
a scholarship to study at Flora MacDonald College in North Carolina
and Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. Later studies took place
in Chicago where she also studied with Rudolf Ganz, the noted conductor
and pianist, and Adele Marcus of Juilliard School in N.Y
Pianist Shirley Ling had established a wide reputation as a concert performer. She was an artist whose music is both poetic and introspective, sparkling and moving. The New York Times said, “She displayed a wondeful capacity to cultivate patiently her gift for intimately lyrical expression.”
She continued her dual career as a performing concert artist and as a piano teacher throughout her life.
